The PA-UfM has five standing committees which indicate the focus areas of the Parliamentary Assembly. These committees are responsible for monitoring their respective thematic areas of the Euro-Mediterranean partnership and meet at least once a year.

Each committee consists of 56 members, of which 28 are from the Mediterranean partner countries, 19 are from EU national Parliaments, and nine are members of the European Parliament. Each parliamentary committee elects a chairperson and three vice-chairpersons that serve a two-year term.
